A screen-free evening begins with one small ending
You do not need to redesign the whole evening to put a screen down for a while. Choose one clear ending and one activity that can begin without a feed. This is an experiment in attention, not a rule about good or bad screen use.
A small practice
Read the four steps below, or use the optional player. Keep your breathing natural. Choose a safe setting; change or stop anything that does not fit.
Identify what you are using the screen for
Notice whether you are completing a task, staying available to someone, or browsing without a particular ending. Different uses call for different choices. Keep necessary contact and accessibility needs in view.
Choose a stopping point you can recognize
Finish one item, save the place, or close a window. Avoid relying on a feeling that you have seen enough; a stream may not provide that feeling. Choose an ending that you can observe.
Give the device a practical place
Put it somewhere suitable for the break you want. If you need to remain reachable, keep the necessary alerts available. You do not have to make the phone inaccessible to make a deliberate choice.
Begin something with your hands or surroundings
Open a printed page, prepare a drink, stretch comfortably, or notice a view. Give the activity a few moments before judging whether it is interesting enough. The next step does not have to be productive.
The timer is optional. It does not measure calm or success. Background browser tabs can delay the on-screen display; no sound or notification will interrupt you.
A clear stopping point.
You do not have to feel different to finish. Choose one ordinary next action, or simply leave the page.
You can leave now. If you want something to read away from this practice, explore the sample before choosing an edition. Books and card decks are optional paid products.

Let the Day Rest
51 days of evening practice for winding down, unfinished thoughts and the transition toward rest.
Take this with you
Name the use. Choose an ending. Put the device in its place. Begin one off-screen activity.
Make room for another approach
If putting the device down is not practical, close one optional window and look away from the screen briefly. Notice the room, then return intentionally to the task you need.
Questions about this pause
Do I have to turn off all notifications?
No. Choose settings appropriate to your responsibilities and access needs. The useful distinction is between a deliberate choice and a habit you have not noticed.
What if I pick the phone up again?
Notice what brought you back. You can use it intentionally or choose another small break. There is no streak to lose and no requirement to start the evening again.
What stays anonymous?
No account is required for these practices. This player has no personal-answer fields, does not send practice choices to a server or AI, and does not save completion records. The timer and guidance choices exist only in the open page. Clear resets them; leaving the page clears the player state.
Opening this website still involves normal website and hosting requests, and the site may count page views in aggregate. Browser features and extensions follow their own settings. This is not a promise of network-level anonymity. Purchases and optional shop accounts are separate and require their usual information.
