A mindful pause after an argument
A difficult exchange can continue in your body and attention after the words stop. This practice creates a little space before your next choice. It is not a way to excuse harmful behavior or a requirement to remain in an unsafe conversation.
A small practice
Read the four steps below, or use the optional player. Keep your breathing natural. Choose a safe setting; change or stop anything that does not fit.
Check the immediate situation
Consider whether you need distance, support, or a practical boundary. If there is immediate danger, move toward appropriate help and safety rather than continuing this exercise. A pause is optional.
Notice support outside the argument
Keep your eyes open. Notice where your body meets the chair or floor, or rest your gaze on a stable object. Let breathing take its ordinary rhythm. There is no need to count, hold, or deepen a breath.
Name one thing you need before continuing
You might need time, water, a quieter place, or a clearly stated limit. Choose something you can communicate or arrange without solving the whole disagreement at once.
Choose the next conversation boundary
Decide whether to return later, make one practical request, or end the exchange for now. If another conversation is appropriate, choose one issue to address. Taking space does not require composing your final reply immediately.
The timer is optional. It does not measure calm or success. Background browser tabs can delay the on-screen display; no sound or notification will interrupt you.
A clear stopping point.
You do not have to feel different to finish. Choose one ordinary next action, or simply leave the page.
You can leave now. If you want something to read away from this practice, explore the sample before choosing an edition. Books and card decks are optional paid products.

Take this with you
Check safety. Notice outside support. Name one need. Choose when or whether to continue.
Make room for another approach
Leave all reflection about the disagreement aside. Look around, locate a comfortable place, and notice three neutral details you can see or hear. Stop if the exercise does not fit.
Questions about this pause
Does taking a pause mean avoiding the disagreement?
A pause can have a clear return point when returning is appropriate. You can say you need time before discussing one issue. You do not have to use a pause to postpone a necessary boundary.
Should I use this with another person?
Only if both people freely want to. Do not require someone to complete a mindfulness exercise before you hear their concern. You can use the practice privately for your own next choice.
What stays anonymous?
No account is required for these practices. This player has no personal-answer fields, does not send practice choices to a server or AI, and does not save completion records. The timer and guidance choices exist only in the open page. Clear resets them; leaving the page clears the player state.
