Before an Event
A meeting, conversation, visit, or performance is ahead. You may care about how it goes without rehearsing every possible outcome in advance.
Start a practice →Choose 2, 5, or 10 minutes. No account or personal writing required.
THIS MAY SOUND FAMILIAR
Where you might be.
- You keep running through what people might say.
- You make more plans but still feel unprepared.
- You want one small action to take before leaving.
A DIFFERENT WAY IN
A little room around the moment.
Preparation can be useful. Prediction often has no finish line. A brief practice can help you notice which part is a real step you can take and which part asks you to know the future. There is no requirement to eliminate nerves before the event.
TRY A SIMPLE PAUSE
Begin where you are.
Look at one ordinary object nearby. Notice a color, a line, and the space around it. When an imagined scene arrives, recognize it as rehearsal and return to what you can see. Let the pause be simple.
Another approach: Try listening to nearby sounds or a little seated movement if looking at an object does not suit you.
What is one manageable preparation I can make now?
Choose that step, or choose to rest before acting. You can take the next step with some uncertainty still present.
